I had an amazing stay at this lodge. It was excellent value for money, especially since I had a two-room unit all to myself. The small kitchen in the unit was a nice addition, and having a fridge was convenient. Another great feature was the efficient heating in every room. The owner of the hotel was incredibly helpful and gave me many useful tips for my time in this city.
No complaints.

The food at the restaurant was amazing, with a great selection of dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. The cafe had a cozy atmosphere, complete with a large fireplace and friendly cats roaming around. The staff were lovely and very accommodating, adding to the welcoming vibe of the place.
Our sleep was disrupted by roosters outside our cabin, which woke us up very early in the morning. It was quite exhausting, especially with small children.

Excellent location for day tramps, including Lake Hauroko and Borland Burn. Simple but adequate accomodation for three people. Impressive garden and orchard to explore. Helpful owners. Highlight is the cafe/bar with delicious homemade food and consistently excellent coffee.

Last Light Lodge was the perfect place to stay before walking the Humpridge Track. the rooms were comfortable and the owners were delightful. We highly recommend adding dinner and breakfast as they were both exceptional. the location was great for accessing the track, and the facilities were basic but clean and tidy. the staff were lovely and the restaurant was good. We also loved the relaxed feel of the outdoor area and enjoyed playing pool and reading books by the fireplace. Cons: No issues at all! 👍.

I stayed at Last Light Lodge for two nights, before and after hiking the Hump Ridge Track. The recently upgraded deluxe rooms were perfectly appointed, with brand new linen and a Netflix capable flat screen TV. The owners, Craig and V, were fantastic people who made my stay extremely pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the homemade dishes in the cafe were excellent. The location, although far, offered a nice drive and was suited for trampers. a great experience with cozy accents and warm comforters.
Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The location of the lodge is ideal for those planning to hike the Humpridge Track, with easy access to the trail and beautiful walking trails in the area. The rooms, although basic, have comfortable beds and efficient heating. The shared bathroom and kitchen facilities are well-maintained and clean, providing a convenient option for guests. One reviewer also praised the on-site restaurant, with delicious dishes like blue cod, whitebait fritter, and Tuatapere sausages, offering a taste of authentic New Zealand cuisine.
The set menu price for meals was considered a bit expensive, especially since there wasn't a variety of mains to choose from.

The buffet breakfast was a feast fit for a queen, with homemade goodies galore. The lodge's permaculture garden was impressive, although the occasional email about technical service issues was not quite what I had in mind for a relaxing getaway.
Oh, how I loved keeping my valuables safe in the cheap and charming dry food safe! Just what every posh lady dreams of.

Delicious breakfast with homemade everything, beautiful gardens to explore, and a great base for exploring the area. Not to mention the buffet is a perfect way to keep valuables safe while hiking!
Shower time was limited, but who needs more than 6 minutes anyway? Just enough time to sing a few tunes!
